Mazda recalls CX-90 SUVs over sudden braking

Washington D.C. June 18, 2024 – Mazda (OTCMKTS:MZDAY) is recalling 9,914 2024 Mazda CX-90 SUVs that may brake on their own. This ups the risk of an accident.

Recall summary

These SUVs are equipped with an automated braking system which applies the brakes if there is an obstacle in front of the vehicle.

Due to a software error, the system may malfunction.

Recall risks

A vehicle that suddenly brakes is more likely to get hit from behind, increasing the risk of injury.

Other Mazda recalls

In January 2024, Mazda recalled certain B-series pickup trucks because their airbags would fail to deploy in a crash, as reported.

CX-90 SUVs were recalled in November of last year because of malfunctioning 360-degree cameras, also as reported.

The repair

Dealers will fix this issue by updating the vehicle software free of charge.

The owners should receive their notifications on July 17, 2024.
