Porsche recalls Taycans with faulty airbags

Atlanta, GA – April 30, 2025 – Porsche (OTCMKTS:POAHY) is recalling 9,735 2022-2023 Porsche Taycan electric sedans whose passenger airbags may fail to deploy in a crash, upping the risk of injury.

Recall summary

The front passenger seat cushion has an occupant sensor used to detect if someone is in the seat to inflate the airbag in the event of a crash. Due to a faulty connection between other parts of the cushion, the sensor may malfunction and deactivate the airbag.

Recall risks

Without the airbag to protect them, the passenger in the front seat is more likely to sustain injuries in an accident.

Warning signs

A malfunctioning sensor will trigger a red airbag warning light and the “Passenger Airbag OFF” warnings on the dashboard, accompanied by the corresponding messages on the instrument cluster.

Other Porsche recalls

In October 2024, over 27,000 Porsche Taycans were recalled following a U.S. government investigation because their batteries could overheat and catch fire.

In March 2024, Porsche recalled roughly 8,000 911 sports cars because their windshields or rear windows were not fitted correctly and could fall out in a crash, as reported.

The repair

The dealers will replace the passenger’s seat cushion free of charge.

The owners should receive letters with more information by June 6, 2025.
