Recall summary
Due to a software error, the rearview camera in the affected vehicles may fail to show an image when the transmission is shifted into reverse.
Recall risks
Without an image from the rearview camera, the driver is more likely to hit surrounding pedestrians or objects while backing up.
Warning signs
A warning message on the vehicle’s center display will appear if the camera malfunctions. Other optional functions, such as parking sensors, rear automatic braking and “cross-traffic alert,” should remain operational and stop the car.
Other Volvo recalls
In April 2025, Volvo recalled hybrid cars and SUVs over fire risk posed by defective high-voltage batteries.
In February 2025, XC40 compact SUVs were recalled due to faulty turn signals.
The repair
The car maker will launch an over-the-air (OTA) software update for the camera’s software. As an alternative, you can visit a dealer to have the software update performed. Either way, this repair will be free of charge.
The owners should receive letters with more information by June 24, 2025.
