Auburn Hills, MI – September 8, 2026 – Stellantis (NYSE:STLA), which owns the Alfa Romeo and Dodge brands, is recalling 48,777 SUVs whose rear seat belts may not work correctly. This defect reduces passenger protection in a crash, upping the chances of injury.
The following models are affected:
- 2023 – 2026 Alfa Romeo Tonale
- 2023 – 2025 Dodge Hornet
Recall summary
When the seat belt is buckled, a retractor pulls it firmly against the passenger’s torso. In the affected SUVs, the rear seat belt webbing may twist, preventing it from being fully retracted.
Recall risks
Passengers whose seat belts do not hold them firmly against the seat are more likely to get injured in a crash.
Other Dodge recalls
In June 2026, more than 20,000 Dodge and Jeep SUVs were recalled because their instrument panels could have gone blank.
In December 2025, Stellantis recalled 6,000 plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) that were at risk of brake failure, as reported.
The repair
Dealers will replace the rear outboard seat belt retractors free of charge.
Notifications to the owners will be mailed by September 24, 2026.
