Kia recalls Sorento SUVs over malfunctioning rearview camera

Irvine, CA  – October 21, 2023 – Kia (OTCMKTS:KIMTF) has issued a recall for 83,667 2019 Sorento SUVs due to an issue with the rearview camera. The camera could fail to display an image while reversing, increasing the likelihood of a crash.

Recall summary

In the affected vehicles, water leaking into the rearview camera wiring harness may prevent the camera from showing an image on the dashboard screen. This is caused by a supplier “manufacturing error.”

The repair

Dealers will replace the camera if there is water damage or apply additional waterproofing if no issues are found. Kia will reimburse owners who paid for repairs prior to the recall announcement.
