Plano, TX – June 4, 2025 – Toyota (NYSE:TM) is recalling 443,444 pickup trucks whose backup lights may fail. This defect augments the risk of a crash and injury.
The following models are affected:
- 2022 – 2025 Toyota Tundra
- 2022 – 2025 Toyota Tundra Hybrid
Recall summary
In the affected trucks, moisture may enter the reverse light assembly, causing corrosion and rendering the lights inoperable.
Recall risks
Inoperable reverse lights reduce the driver’s field of view while backing up. In addition, surrounding motorists and pedestrians may not be aware that the vehicle is reversing. Both situations up the chances of a crash and injury.
Other Toyota recalls
In February 2025, Toyota recalled Tacoma pickup trucks over a brake fluid leak that could cause longer stopping distances.
In the same month, Lexus and Camry models were recalled because their second-row seat belts were faulty, as reported.
The repair
The dealer will replace the lights and inspect their wiring connectors. If any traces of corrosion are found, the connectors will be replaced.
This repair will be free of charge.
The owners should receive letters with more information between June 30, 2025 and July 14, 2025.
