Stellantis recalls Jeep Grand Cherokees over stall risk

Auburn Hills, MI – September 5, 2025 – Stellantis (NYSE:STLA), which owns the Jeep brand, is recalling 91,787 2022-2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) SUVs that may stall. This defect ups the chances of a crash and injury, especially in dense traffic.

Recall summary

The high-voltage battery supplies electricity to the hybrid vehicle’s electric motor, which drives the wheels. In the affected SUVs, the module that controls the battery’s operation can malfunction due to a software error. This would cause a temporary loss of motive power.

Recall risks

A stalled vehicle may get hit by oncoming traffic, augmenting the risk of an injury.

Other Jeep recalls

In January 2025, nearly 80,000 Grand Cherokee and Wagoneer SUVs were recalled over malfunctioning rearview cameras.

In November 2024, an ABS issue led to a recall of more than 200,000 Jeep and Dodge SUVs because of “reduced stability,” as reported.

The repair

The carmaker is currently working on a solution for this problem. Once available, the repair will be performed free of charge.

The owners should receive notifications between October 23, 2025 and October 24, 2025.
