Nissan recalls vehicles whose doors may open while driving

Franklin, TN – February 17, 2026 – Nissan (OTCMKTS:NSANY) is recalling 26,432 vehicles whose doors may open while driving. This defect increases the risk of an injury. 

The following models are affected: 

  • 2025 Nissan Altima 
  • 2026 Nissan Kicks
  • 2025 Nissan Sentra
  • 2025 – 2026 Nissan Frontier

Recall summary

A door striker is a U-shaped piece of metal that holds the door in place once it is closed. In the affected vehicles, the strikers were not welded correctly and could break, causing the doors to open while driving.   

Recall risks

Doors that open suddenly while the car is moving may hit pedestrians, cause property damage or even allow an occupant to fall out. 

Warning signs

A partially broken door striker may generate rattling sounds. There will be no warning signs should it suddenly break off completely. 

Other Nissan recalls

In December 2025, nearly 42,000 Nissan Sentra sedans were recalled over defective windshields that could have reduced drivers’ visibility

In October 2025, Nissan recalled approximately 19,000 EVs whose high-voltage batteries could have overheated and caught fire

The repair

The dealers will replace the strikers free of charge. 

Notifications to the owners will be mailed by March 13, 2026.
