Mercedes-Benz recalls vehicles that may stall

Jacksonville, FL – April 23, 2026 – Mercedes-Benz (OTCMKTS:MBGYY) is recalling 24,092 cars that may lose motive power while driving. This defect increases the risk of a crash and injury, especially in dense traffic.   

The following vehicles are affected:

  • 2018 Mercedes-Benz E 400 4Matic
  • 2018 Mercedes-Benz E 400 4Matic Coupe 
  • 2018 Mercedes-Benz E 400 4Matic Wagon 
  • 2019 – 2020 Mercedes-Benz E450 4Matic
  • 2018 – 2020 Mercedes-Benz S450 4Matic
  • 2018 – 2020 Mercedes-Benz S560 4Matic
  • 2018 Mercedes-Benz E400 4Matic Cabriolet 
  • 2018 – 2020 Mercedes-Maybach S560 4Matic
  • 2019 – 2020 Mercedes-Benz E450 4Matic Coupe 
  • 2018 – 2020 Mercedes-Benz S560 4Matic Coupe
  • 2019 – 2020 Mercedes-Benz E450 4Matic Wagon
  • 2019 – 2020 Mercedes-Benz E450 4Matic Cabriolet 

 Recall summary

A universal joint is a crucial drivetrain element that transfers power from the transmission to the wheels. In the affected vehicles, the front axle universal joint may break due to excessive wear caused by a damaged seal, resulting in a potential loss of motive power.  

Recall risks

A car that loses its propulsion may get hit by oncoming traffic, increasing the risk of injury.  

Warning signs

A damaged universal joint may produce a knocking noise or vibration while driving. 

Other Mercedes-Benz recalls

In March 2026, Mercedes-Benz recalled nearly 12,000 electric vehicles over the risk of fire caused by defective high-voltage batteries

In August 2025, nearly 44,000 Mercedes-Benz vans were recalled because their rearview cameras could have failed to show an image while backing up

The repair

The dealers will inspect the universal joints and replace them if damaged. The repair will be free of charge. 

Notifications to the owners will be mailed by June 2, 2026.
