Toyota recalls Corolla hybrids over insufficient pedestrian warning

Plano, TX – April 9, 2026 – Toyota (NYSE:TM) is recalling 73,528 2023-2025 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrids that may fail to warn pedestrians of their movement. This defect ups the chances of a crash and injury.

 Recall summary

The affected hybrids are equipped with an external audio system that warns nearby pedestrians of their approach. Because the system’s speaker is mounted at the front, the pedestrians may not hear it when the vehicle is reversing.

Recall risks

The pedestrians behind the vehicle may not hear it moving backwards and could get hit by it.
