Dearborn, MI – December 15, 2025 – Ford (NYSE:F), which owns the Lincoln brand, is recalling 11,852 2016-2019 Lincoln MKT crossover SUVs whose door trim may separate from the car while driving. This would create a road hazard, upping the chances of a crash and injury.
Recall summary
The door pillar trim is a piece of plastic that improves the vehicle’s appearance and aerodynamics. In the affected SUVs, the trim was not glued correctly due to a supplier error and may fall off while driving.
Recall risks
If the door trim flies off while driving, it could land on the road and cause an accident for other motorists that come upon it.
Warning signs
The drivers may notice the door trim separating from the top of the doors or hear rattling and increased “wind noise” while driving.
Other Lincoln recalls
In November 2025, more than 170,000 Ford and Lincoln trucks and SUVs were recalled because their moonroof wind deflectors could have fallen off while driving.
In September 2025, Ford recalled nearly 1.5 million cars due to inoperable rearview cameras.
The repair
The dealers will remove the trim and reapply it so that it will not detach. The repair will be free of charge.
Notifications to the owners will be mailed between June 29, 2026 and July 3, 2026.
