Stellantis recalls RAM pickups over loss of stability

Auburn Hills, MI – April 28, 2026 – Stellantis (NYSE:STLA), which owns the RAM brand, is recalling 6,605 2026 RAM 2500 heavy-duty pickup trucks that may become unstable during sudden maneuvers. This defect increases the risk of a crash and injury, especially at higher speeds or in slippery conditions.

 Recall summary

Electronic stability control (ESC) keeps the vehicle stable when turning or braking sharply by adjusting brake force to each wheel. In the affected trucks, the ESC may malfunction due to a faulty steering column module, which tells the ESC how much the driver is turning.

Recall risks

Without the aid of ESC, the vehicle is more likely to skid or spin during sudden and harsh maneuvers. This could result in a serious – or even fatal – accident.

Warning signs

The driver may see an ESC warning light on the dashboard if the system malfunctions.

Other RAM recalls

In February 2026, nearly 460,000 RAM trucks and Jeep SUVs were recalled over inoperable trailer lights and brakes.

In December 2025, Stellantis recalled more than 52,000 RAM pickups because their ESC systems and seatbelt pretensioners would malfunction.

The repair

The dealers will replace the steering column module free of charge.

Notifications to the owners will be mailed by May 7, 2026.
