Stellantis issues third Jeep fire recall, tells owners to park away from structures

Auburn Hills, MI – November 18, 2025 – Stellantis (NYSE:STLA), which owns the Jeep brand, is recalling 320,065 hybrid SUVs that may catch fire while driving or when parked and turned off. This ups the risk of a crash and injury or property damage.

The following models are affected:

  • 2022 – 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe
  • 2020 – 2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe

This is the third time Stellantis is recalling these cars. Vehicles that were previously fixed will need to be repaired again.

Recall summary

In addition to a conventional engine, hybrid vehicles have an electric motor powered by a high-voltage battery. In the affected SUVs, the battery has damaged cells, which can cause it to overheat and burst into flames.

Recall risks

A fire that happens while driving increases the chances of a crash and injury.

In addition, if the vehicle bursts into flames while parked, the fire may spread to surrounding objects.

Safety tips

Drivers are also advised not to charge their vehicles and to “park away from structures or other vehicles.”

Previous Jeep battery fire recalls

Stellantis already recalled some of these vehicles on two separate occasions, in December 2023 and October 2024. The software updates performed during these recalls, however, proved to be insufficient to solve the problem.

Other Jeep recalls

In September 2025, nearly 92,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee hybrids were recalled over a stall risk caused by a software error.

In January 2025, Stellantis recalled almost 80,000 Jeep SUVs whose rearview cameras could fail to show an image while backing up.

The repair

The carmaker is currently developing a remedy, which, once available, will be free of charge.

Notifications to the owners will be mailed between December 2, 2025 and December 9, 2025.
