Ford recalls trucks and SUVs over inoperable wipers

Dearborn, MI – April 14, 2026 – Ford (NYSE:F), which also owns the Lincoln brand, is recalling 422,613 trucks and SUVs whose wipers may stop working. The defect reduces visibility, upping the chances of a crash and injury.

The following models are affected:

  • 2021 – 2023 Ford Expedition
  • 2022 – 2023 Ford F-250 SD
  • 2022 – 2023 Ford F-350 SD
  • 2022 – 2023 Ford F-450 SD
  • 2022 – 2023 Ford F-550 SD
  • 2022 – 2023 Ford F-600 SD
  • 2021 – 2023 Lincoln Navigator

The recall comes on the back of thousands of warranty claims.

 Recall summary

A car’s wiper blade is attached to the wiper arm that swipes it across the windshield when engaged.  In the affected vehicles, the arms were not seated correctly, which could prevent the wipers from moving as intended.

Recall risks

Inoperable windshield wipers reduce visibility, especially in poor weather, upping the chances of a crash.

Warning signs

The driver may notice the wipers move erratically when engaged.

Background of the recall

The recall comes on the heels of “1,538 warranty reports, 11 field reports, and three customer service reports.” No injuries or accidents have been reported.

Other Ford recalls

In February 2026, Ford recalled approximately 45,000 electric SUVs whose headlights could have stopped working, as reported.

In January 2026, more than 270,000 Ford hybrid and EVs were recalled over a rollaway risk, also as reported.

The repair

Dealers are expected to inspect and replace the wiper arms free of charge. However, the remedy is not currently available as the “inspection process is being evaluated.”

Letters “notifying owners of the safety risk” were slated to be mailed between April 13, 2026 and April 17, 2026. Another round will go out once the remedy is available.
