Fountain Valley, CA – December 11, 2024 – Hyundai (OTCMKTS:HYMTF) is recalling 42,465 SUVs and pickups that may roll away when parked. This ups the risk of a crash and injury.
The following models are affected:
- 2025 Hyundai Santa Cruz
- 2025 Hyundai Tucson
Recall summary
The affected vehicles can shift out of Park when the brake pedal is not depressed due to faulty wiring. This may lead to a rollaway and a crash.
Recall risks
A crash increases the risk of injuries to pedestrians and property damage to the surrounding buildings.
Safety tips
Until the repair is performed, always apply the parking brake when leaving the vehicle.
Other Hyundai recalls
In August 2024, over 12,000 Hyundai Santa Fe vehicles were also recalled due to the risk of a rollaway, albeit due to a different cause, as reported.
In the same month, Hyundai recalled Santa Fe SUVs because of faulty airbags.
The repair
Dealers will reroute the wiring free of charge.
The owners should receive letters with more information by January 19, 2025.
