Jacksonville, FL – October 23, 2024 – Mercedes-Benz (OTCMKTS:MBGYY) is recalling 10,655 SUVs whose airbags may deploy too violently in a crash, increasing the risk of an injury.
The following models are affected:
- 2021 – 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLE 350
- 2021 – 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLE 450
Recall summary
The affected vehicles are equipped with so-called “dual stage” front airbags, whose deployment intensity depends on the crash severity. Due to a wiring error, the airbag may deploy too forcefully in a fender-bender scenario.
Recall risks
The defect may result in airbags injuring the car occupants instead of protecting them.
