Recall summary
The affected vehicles have a dedicated trailer tow module that controls the trailer’s taillights, brake lights, turn signals and brakes.
The module may malfunction, rendering all the lights and the brakes on the trailer inoperable.
Recall risks
Other motorists may not be aware of the driver’s intention if the taillights are not working, while inoperable brakes make the trailer more difficult to control. Both situations increase the chances of a crash and injury.
Background of the recall
The recall comes on the heels of hundreds warranty claims, field reports and repair orders. No injuries or accidents have been reported.
Other Jeep recalls
In December 2025, Jeep recalled more than 110,000 SUVs that could have stalled or even caught fire because of a catastrophic engine failure.
In November 2025, nearly 25,000 hybrid Jeep Wrangler SUVs were recalled over stall risk caused by a software glitch.
The repair
The dealers will replace the trailer tow module free of charge.
Notifications to the owners will be mailed between March 24, 2026 and April 3, 2026.
