Volkswagen recalls Tiguan SUVs that may stall, lose warning and exterior lights

Auburn Hills, MI – November 3, 2026 – Volkswagen (NASDAQ:VWAGY) has recalled 49,958 2025 Tiguan SUVs that stall or experience a loss of multiple safety systems. The defect raises the risk of a serious accident.

NHTSA recall number is 26V587000.

Recall summary

The Body Control Module (BCM) is a computer that is responsible for operating multiple electrical systems in a vehicle. Due to a glitch, the BCM can reset, cutting off vehicle power, rearview camera, as well as exterior and warning lights.

Recall risks

The loss of multiple safety systems would make it hard for the driver to operate the car. In particular, losing power when driving could result in the vehicle being hit by behind by other motorists.

The loss of rearview camera would increase the risk of a backover accident, while having no warning lights could obscure another car system needing attention.

In June 2026, 48,000 Volkswagen Jettas were recalled also due to the risk of catching on fire, albeit for a different reason.

The repair

To fix the VW recall issue, dealers will update the BCM software free of charge. Letters notifying owners of the recall are set to be mailed on November 6, 2026.
