Hyundai recalling late-model sedans over braking issues [Video]

Welcome back to the recall blog.

Hyundai Motor America recently made the decision to recall nearly eighty-eight thousand late-model Azera and Sonata sedans due to concerns about their anti-lock brakes.

If moisture were to enter a powered anti-lock brake system, it could result in a short circuit that increases the risk of a fire in the engine compartment.

This can happen even when the vehicle is parked and the ignition is off.

The issue affects about 1 percent of the recalled vehicles, which includes all 2006 to 2011 model year Azeras, and 2006 model year Sonatas.

Hyundai plans to notify affected owners in late February 2018, and will advise them to return the vehicles to a dealership, where the problem will be fixed free of charge.

Nissan recalls vehicles with defective air bags [Video]

Hello and welcome to another Recall Masters video blog.

Nissan North America has recalled one hundred and eleven two thousand-eighteen Nissan Versa Note hatchbacks believed to be equipped with defective side curtain air bag inflators. The automaker suspects just one percent of the models named in the action actually contain the defective safety features.

The affected vehicles contain side curtain air bag assemblies with top hat diffusers that could detach during deployment, putting occupants at risk for injury.

Nissan notified dealers December 22, 2017 and plans to reach out to owners February 8, 2018. The automotive company plans to replace the defective features free of charge.

Mazda B-Series Trucks Recalled for Airbag Problem [Video]

Hello and welcome back to another recall update.

Mazda recently recalled nearly 20,000 of its B-Series trucks from the 2004 to 2006 model years.

All affected vehicles are made with Takata driver side frontal air bags, which could rupture in a crash due to propellant degradation.

Based on the air bag supplier’s investigations, this risk only arises after several years of exposure to extreme conditions.

In affected vehicles, it’s possible that an inflator rupture would launch metal fragments through the air bag at high speeds in the event of a crash, greatly increasing the risk of driver injury.

Owners of the affected B-Series trucks will be informed of the recall in mid-January, and can return the vehicles to a Mazda dealership for free replacement.

Thanks for watching, and be sure to check back again for more recall updates.

Toyota is recalling almost 40,000 of its popular plug-in Prius Hybrids from model years 2012 to 2015 due to a design issue.
The defect in question stems from the potential for the car’s hybrid battery, to overheat if placed under significant stress.

If this happens, warning lights could turn on in the instrument panel, or in more severe conditions, the car may experience loss of power or total shutdown of the hybrid system.
Owners of affected vehicles will be notified of the recall in mid-January, and can bring them to local Toyota dealers to replace old fuses with new and improved products…
