Chrysler recalls Jeeps with noncompliant software [Video]

Hello, and welcome to another vehicle recall update.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has recalled more than three thousand sport utility vehicles suspected to contain instrument control panel software that violates Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. The campaign affects two-thousand-seventeen Jeep Renegade models. F-C-A suspects 100 percent of the vehicles named in the recall contain the defective software.

The models named in the campaign are equipped with I-P-C software that causes malfunction indicators to illuminate when no mechanical problems are present. This violates F-M-V-S-S standard 101, which stipulates that warning lights should only shine when actual engine issues occur.

F-C-A has directed dealers to update the software in all affected Jeep Renegades, free of charge. The car company plans to contact owners on or about September sixteenth, two-thousand and seventeen.

Toyota recall Lexus vehicles after discovering tie rod problems [Video]

Lexus ES 350 drivers may encounter loud noises and steering issues while driving their vehicles. If so, their cars could be one of the one thousand, seven hundred and sixty that are part of a new recall action, according to a statement from Toyota.

The manufacturer said that these vehicles, with the 2017 model year, could have been assembled improperly, with loose lock nuts threatening the steering control of the vehicle. The resolution will go beyond these parts and see dealers replace entire tie rod assemblies where necessary. Though Toyota didn’t give a strict date for this action, it said owner notification was scheduled for mid-July.

Owners will not have to pay for the repairs, and should look for signs that their car might move to either side during a drive.

BMW recalls vehicles with flawed reflectors [Video]

Woodcliff Lake, N.J.—July 18, 2017—According to one of the latest BMW recalls, some vehicles may have reflector problems that put their occupants at risk. Consumer Affairs reported that several BMW models could have less rear reflection than needed to comply with safety standards. With these inadequate reflectors, vehicles could be harder to see on the road.

The recall includes several xDrive, ActiveHybrid 5 and x series types, with the model years ranging from 2013 to 2014. In total, the source said that this encompasses almost 14,000 vehicles. The fix is scheduled for July 24. BMW will replace the reflectors to increase visibility and comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.

BMW Blog said that the manufacturer has had other recalls recently, such as one for ninety-two vehicles with tail light issues.

Hyundai recalls vehicles for parking brake indicator issue [Video]

Fountain Valley, Calif.—June 9, 2017—In one of a pair of Hyundai recalls, the manufacturer is taking action on vehicles with possible warning light issues for their parking brakes. This recall concerns more than 161 vehicles, with 1 percent estimated to have the defect .

If the electrical switches in these vehicles corrode, then the parking brake light could fail to display at the right times. Some of the signs of this issue are noise, smoke or extra resistance from the parking brake.

Owner notification was set for June 30. Dealers will fix the problem by replacing the parking switch with a new one made of different material. As of June 5, the manufacturer was not aware of any accidents due to this defect.

New BMW update to include previously recalled vehicles [Video]

A new BMW recall builds off of an old one for another voluntary safety action. More than forty-five thousand light vehicles are part of this effort although just one percent is expected to contain the defect.

This fault means car doors could not fully close although they appear to, leading them to open unexpectedly, possibly during transit. The recall included seven different models, with the production dates ranging between two thousand four and two thousand eight.

As of May eighteenth, BMW gave no specific remedy. However, owner notification will happen July 10.

Mazda recall: Older vehicles may have fuel pump issue [Video]

Poor welding in some Mazda vehicles has led to a recall. In one of two recent recalls, the manufacturer plans to address problems with a fuel pump. In some vehicles, heat and bad production can fracture one of the key pipes for the existing fuel system.

Although this is a recent recall, with the first U.S. field report happening this year, the issue goes back some time. The production dates for the R-X-eight vehicles themselves fell between 2003 and 2008, and the preliminary investigation began in 2007. A total of sixty-nine thousand, four hundred and forty-seven vehicles are reportedly involved.

Dealers can fix the issue by installing a new fuel pump filter kit, and Mazda has offered the improved version since 2008.

Vaporizing fuel an issue in 2017 Subaru recall [Video]

Cherry Hill, N.J.—April 20, 2017—A new Subaru recall will target more than thirty-three thousand vehicles for a fuel system risk. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report said that the recall impacted 2017 Subaru Impreza 4D and 5D vehicles.

In these autos, drivers could have trouble starting the engine or keeping it going. This could signify an internal problem processing winter fuel. If the engine vaporizes the fuel, it could cause pressure to drop.

Although the problem concerns the fuel itself, it actually stems from the software installed within the engine control unit. The fix therefore will require new software for this system. Production for these impacted vehicles only recently ended March fifteenth, and the report estimated that all of the suspected vehicles likely had the defect.

Kia recalls vehicles for engine wear problems [Video]

The engines in some Kia vehicles could have debris in them that puts operators at risk. A new late March recall attempts to fix this through a campaign. The action includes more than six hundred and eighteen thousand vehicles, with affected model years ranging from 2011 to 2014.

Official documents said that the issue could lead to a bearing rod in affected engines failing, leading the vehicle to stall entirely and sometimes creating a noticeable knocking noise. Prior to this, owners could see warning lights, specifically those for engine or oil pressure issues.

Dealer’s wont be notified until May twenty-second, with the owners informed between the twenty-fifth and thirtieth. Dealers can replace the engine assembly entirely to address the issue.
