Hyundai issues Santa Fe recall over limited rearview visibility 

Fountain Valley, CA – April 29, 2024 – Hyundai (OTCMKTS:HYMTF) is recalling 18,206 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe SUVs whose rearview image may be obstructed. This impairs visibility while backing up, increasing the risk of a crash and injury.  

Recall summary

Due to a software error, the affected vehicles’ rearview camera image may be partially blocked by a “Trailer Parking Assist” message on the display,

Other Hyundai recalls

Both Hyundai and its sister company Kia have been plagued by fire-related recalls and are currently under a U.S. government investigation to evaluate the adequacy of existing remedies and figure out if more cars need to be recalled.

The latest recall for the issue occurred earlier this month when the company recalled close to 30,000 Genesis vehicles, as reported.

This followed another Genesis recall which also occurred in April due to the risk of stalling while driving, also as reported.

The repair

Dealers will update the rearview camera software free of charge. 

Owners will receive letters with more information on June 1, 2024.
